Effective Delegation

As you move up in career ladder, your role becomes more of a supervisory or managerial nature.

Everyone in that role knows the importance of delegation but very few know how to delegate effectively.

Here are few tips on effective delegation:

1. Delegate to right person and not to anyone just for the sake of delegation.

2. You may tell the person in the positive tone why he is being selected or found suitable for the task. This will definitely boost him to complete the assigned task within deadline and in quality manner.

3. Task should be clearly stated in writing.

4. What is expected and when should be known to whom task in being delegated.

5. Give him/her reasonable time to do the assigned work.

6. Don't wait till set deadline. Check in-between to see if things are going as desired. If required the course correction should be suggested in clear manner.

7. When the delegated task is over, you must give sincere feedback to the concerned person. He must be appreciated or rewarded for his/her excellent work done. If work needs improvement then he must be told so that he improves in future.
